New Delhi: US Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin unwittingly took a prank call from a Canadian comedian posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
On the call that happened on Saturday the caller told stunning Palin she would make a good president some day.
Here is what followed:
Marc-Antoine Audette: This is Nicolas Sarkozy speaking. How are you?
Sarah Palin:Oh so good, it's so good to hear you. Thank you for calling us.
Marc-Antoine Audette: I followed your campaigns closely with my special American advisor, Johnny Hallyday, you know?
Sarah Palin: Yes, good!
Marc-Antoine Audette: I see you as a president one day, you too.
Sarah Palin: Maybe in eight years.
Marc-Antoine Audette: You know my wife is a popular singer and a former top model and she is so hot in bed. She even wrote a song for you.
Sarah Palin: Oh my goodness, I didn't know that.
Marc-Antoine Audette: Yes, in French it's called 'Du rouge a levres sur une cochonne' or if you prefer in English, Joe the Plumber. (Sings:) It's his life, Joe the plumber.
Sarah Palin: Maybe she understands some of the unfair criticism but I bet you she is such a hard worker too, and she realises you just plough through that criticism.
Marc-Antoine Audette: One of my favourite activities is to hunt too.
Sarah Palin: Oh very good, we could go hunting together.
Marc-Antoine Audette: Exactly, we could go try hunting by helicopter like you did. I never did that.
Sarah Palin: Well, I think we could have a lot of fun together as we're getting work done. We can kill two birds with one stone that way.
Marc-Antoine Audette: I just love killing those animals. Mmm, mmm, take away a life, that is so fun. I'd really love to go, as long as we don't bring Vice-President Cheney. Ha ha ha ha!
Sarah Palin: No, I'll be a careful shot.
The call was made by a well-known Montreal comedy duo Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel.
The two are Known as the Masked Avengers and are notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state.
Audette who posed as Sarkozy, spoke in an exaggerated French accent and dropped ample hints that the conversation was a joke but Palin seemingly did not pick up on them.
The Republican running mate of John McCain even praised Sarkozy throughout the call, also mentioned his wife Carla Bruni, the famous model-turned-songwriter-heiress and added that she looked forward to working with Sarkozy and meeting him and his "beautiful wife."
The callers eventually revealed the prank and identified themselves and their radio station.
The duo of Audette and Sebastien Trudel have also played pranks on Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, and singer Britney Spears.
