The good and bad high-flying politicians

New Delhi: It is a known and accepted practice that airline and airport staff make an extra effort to accommodate VIP passengers, sometimes even allowing them to board the flight in the last minute.

Most passengers are advised by airlines to reach the airport at least two hours in advance, however, for the VIPs the case is slightly different. Their protocol officers reach the airport well in time to collect their boarding passes and wait.

However, the recent case of an Indian Airlines pilot offloading a Kerala MP for allegedly coming late created a ruckus. CNN-IBN spoke to airline staff to find out the best and worst VIP passengers.

Topping the list is former Aviation Minister, Shanawaz Hussain, who was known to for just about managing to catch his flights.

Woman and Child Welfare Minister, Renuka Chaudhary, is also not too popular with airline staff.

Among other VIPs, former Prime Minister, Deva Gowda, is also known for his ability to be late for his flights.

“We understand that they have important things to do,” says General Secretary, ICPA, Vikram Yadav.

However, not all VIPs trouble the airlines staff. Finance Minister P Chidambaram is a model passenger who reaches on time, does his security check and even travels in the same bus as the other passengers.

The others in the good passengers list include Jyoti Basu, who is also known as an on time VIP, followed by Opposition Leader LK Advani.

Nonetheless, if one is in the same aircraft as the VIP passenger, it is not always bad in these days of congestion as one might actually reach early.
