Mumbai: After winning four awards out of four nominations at the Golden Globes, Slumdog Millionaire has been nominated in 10 categories at the Oscars.
The celebrations at the Indian premiere of the film on the day of the nominations showed that the main challenge was to enter the nomination list and that’s achieved. But this team has a long road ahead till they celebrate like this once again.
“The fact that we are in this award is a big thing. We are going to do our best. Tomorrow if we fall of the cliff from here we should not be upset. It’s taking our film places, it’s making our film popular we should be happy with it,” says Boyle.
Now Fox Searchlight will take Boyle, music composer A R Rahman and the other nominees to LA and organise media interviews and publicity campaigns to keep the film in the news and draw as much voter attention as possible.
Apart from that, the producers will hold screenings in New York and LA and will send out screener DVDs to academy members all over the world. They will put 'for your consideration' ads in trade papers like Variety, Screen International and Hollywood Reporter.
Golden Globe awards, Bafta nominations and 10 Oscar nominations only go to prove that Slumdog Millionaire has tremendous following.
The main task now is too woo the academy voters.
