Mumbai: Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi has reportedly signed Academy Award-winning Bosnian director Danis Tanovic's next film under the collaborative banner of several big production houses.
Tanovic is best known for having directed and written 'No Man's Land', which won him the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2001- the same year Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Lagaan' was nominated in that category.
The writer-director was reportedly keen on signing Hashmi, 33, after watching several of his films, for his next film backed by ASAP film (France), Dar motion Pictures, Sikhya Entertainment and Anurag Kashyap Film Pvt Ltd.
"Emraan is a very good actor and we are excited to work together. It will b very interesting to see the combination of an Indian star who is so popular among the masses working with an Oscar winning director in an international film. We are looking forward to a great collaboration," said producer Guneet Monga of Anurag Kashyap Film Pvt Ltd.
Hashmi, whose latest films include 'The Dirty Picture', 'Jannat 2', 'Shanghai', 'Raaz 3', is known for his unconventional choice of films. "Emraan has never tried to fit into a conventional stereotype and has always wanted to experiment. Danis is looking at doing some great work with Emraan, who he looks upon as one of the most talented actors he has come across," a source said.
