Gill lashes out at FIH Prez for criticism

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) Chief, KPS Gill has reacted strongly to International Federation of Hockey (FIH) President, Els van Breda Vriesman's criticism of the state of Indian hockey.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is meeting on Monday to discuss the bribery scandal in the Hockey federation.

Gill told news agency PTI, that he had stood by juniors throughout his career and had nothing to do with IHF Secretary K Jothikumaran's alleged action — as shown accepting a bribe to induct a player in the team in a sting operation.

He also accused a section of the media of running a campaign against him and of being unprofessional.

There is a section of the IOA that is pushing for Gill's removal as well but there needs to be a two-thirds majority within the IOA to suspend the IHF Chief.
