New Delhi: Blog, cookie, wiki – do these words make you want to wince, shudder or bang your head on the keyboard? If you are a net junkie, you sure use and action these words at a click of the mouse.

But some of the most commonly used words by the Netizens have been voted the most irritating words spawned by the Web boom.

According to a web poll, topping the list of such words was folksonomy, a term for a web classification system.

While "Blogosphere" - the collective name for blogs or online journals - was ranked second; "blog" was rated third; "netiquette" – Net manners - came fourth and "blook" - a book based on a blog, was fifth.

Another commonly irritating word was "cookie" - a file sent to a user's computer after they visit a website and perhaps one of the most popular Internet collective encyclopedia - "wiki" - was tenth.

The poll was conducted by YouGov – a british website – that collected responses from 2,091 Net users for a poll commissioned by the Lulu Blooker Prize, a literary award for books.

Earlier this month, the growing use of words inspired by cyberspace was highlighted when the Collins English Dictionary announced that a string of them would be included in their ninth edition.

These included "me-media", a term for personal content websites such as Facebook, and "godcast", a religious service which has been converted to an MP3 format.
