Profile of a white-collared alleged terrorist

Pune: Mohammed Asgar Mansoor Peerbhoy would never strike as a radical, jehadi terrorist to anyone who met him in the day-to-day life.

He is like any successful, white collared gentleman one could meet anyplace.

The 31-year-old software engineer employed with Yahoo! had everything going for him, till he allegedly got into the terror related activities that is.

Peerbhoy now stands accused of ending the chilling Indian Mujahideen terror mails that reached news channels minutes before the bomb blasts at Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Delhi.

Written in fluent English, these were the signatures of a new net savvy Jehadi.

Peerbhoy, who went by the alias of Munna, was a Principal Software Engineer at Yahoo India and earned Rupees 19 lakh annually.

Peerbhoy allegedly drafted the terror e-mails before sending them from three Mumbai locations, exploiting unsecured Wi-Fi connections.

Police say that Peerbhoy was helped by three accomplices. They were Mubin Kadar Sheikh, Asif Basheer Sheikh and Mohammed Ismail Choudhary.

The alleged involvement of Peerbhoy, who lived in Pune's posh Kondwa suburb has shocked his neighbours.

Afterall, the man had been a topper throughout his schooling and college years. His family still claims that he is innocent.

Now the man is in the police net, charged under the the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Public prosecutor Kalpana Chavan said the arrested were involved in planning, conspiring and executing a series of bomb blasts in various Indian cities in the past few months with losses of many innocent lives.

Peerbhoys lawyer has filed a plea on his client's behalf stating that Peerbhoy is ready to turn approver in the blasts case.
