The Stoneman Murders tells Mumbai killings

Mumbai: Debutant filmmaker Manish Gupta tries to uncover the mystery behind the gruesome Stoneman Murders killings that haunted Mumbai in 1983.

The film looks into the series of incidents were pavement dwellers were found murdered while they slept the serial killer left behind a mark at every crime scene a heavy stone placed near the head of every victim.

The Stoneman Murders sees Kay Kay Menon play a suspended inspector who tracks the unknown killer.

“The entire investigative process in the film is not robotic and does not go from one clue to another it also deals with the emotions of the characters who are part of the process that's very interesting for me,” actor, Kay Kay Menon.

According to director Manish Gupta the killings had left an indelible impression on him as a child which prompted him to approach the subject as a filmmaker.

“I remember I was in school then and my elders use to say don't hang around late the stoneman might harm you, in certain areas there was this fear psychosis people were scared to sleep on the roads,” says Director, Manish Gupta.

Also starring Arbaaz Khan and Rukhsar The Stoneman Murders is scheduled to release on Friday the 13 February along with Shah Rukh starrer Billu Barber, but the team is confident about making an impact at the box-office.

“There’s an SRK element in there and either we prevail along with them or were are thrashed I hope both the films do well,” says Kay Kay Menon

“I think both are different film and both will do well individually,” says Manish Gupta.

The film also claims to reveal some official cover-ups which were made on the sensational killings but whether this rakes up yet another controversy remains to be seen.
