OverDrive , the leading global distributor of audiobooks, eBooks, and more to libraries, on September 2, 2009 announced the 'Most Downloaded Books from the Library' for August 2009.
Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife topped the audiobook adult fiction list after the release of a motion picture adaptation.
Julie and Julia by Julie Powell also saw a boost in popularity on the heels of a film adaptation, topping the eBook adult nonfiction list and climbing to the No. 6 spot on the audiobook adult nonfiction list. Audiobooks and eBooks by Stieg Larsson, Paulo Coelho, James Patterson, and Nora Roberts were also among the most downloaded books from OverDrive-powered libraries last month.
The 'Most Downloaded Books from the Library' lists are organised by subject and format, and compiled based on activity at more than 9,000 libraries in the OverDrive global network. Complete lists for audiobooks and eBooks in adult fiction, adult nonfiction, juvenile fiction, and juvenile nonfiction are available at their website.
