New Delhi: Barack Obama is shoulder to shoulder with John McCain on the popularity scales in the US. But outside America, it's a different story.
An international survey by the Pew Global Attitudes Project covered the opinions of over 24,000 people across the globe.
The project found that McCain is rated lower than Obama in every country surveyed, except for the United States.
Respondents across the world expressed more confidence in Obama than in McCain to do the right thing regarding world affairs.
Thirty-three per cent Indians vouched for Obama, while only 28 per cent took to McCain.
The suave Democrat's advantage over his Republican counterpart is overwhelming in the Western European countries.
Eighty-four per cent of the French say they have confidence in Obama to do the right thing, compared with 33 per cent who say that about McCain.
The differences in ratings for Obama and McCain are about as large in Spain and Germany, and are only somewhat narrower in Great Britain.
