Mumbai: On day five at the on going Prithvi theatre festival in Mumbai, Sarita Joshi's portrayal of Nani in the play Sakubai enthralled theatre lovers.
i>Sakubai is a dramatic monologue of a common working woman, hailing from one of the lowest rungs of urban India.
Accomplished actor Sarita Joshi is projected as the good old domestic help aka 'kaamwali bai', an indispensable figure in an average household of our cities and towns.
The play brought forth by Ekjute theatre group and directed by Nadira Babbar brought to life many hues of womanhood, especially Indian womanhood, that rang true for most viewers.
"Sakubai is a mother, a sister and a girl who you see at every step in your life," said Sarita Joshi the lead actor of the play.
"Its been my privilege to see the play today and believe me, this bai (woman/also means a maid servant) revolves around every single woman in her life," said a viewer.
"Very nice play and we like Sarita Joshi's acting. She's superb!" added another.
The theatre festival that began from November 6, continues till November 16. Every day promises to bring forth a treat for starved theatre lovers.
