Jammu: In the third such incident in a week, an Army jawan, posted at the base headquarters in Poonch district, on Friday shot himself dead using his service rifle.
Sepoy T John Thompson took the extreme step while on duty, official sources said.
The reason behind his action is being ascertained, they said.
Earlier, On October 21, a sepoy had shot dead his three colleagues and injured two others by firing from his service weapon.
Two days later a jawan of Rashtriya Rifles had killed two of his colleagues before turning the gun on himself, both in Rajouri district of Jammu.
