Mysore: The city of palaces, Mysore is all geared up for the 10 day long Dasara celebrations. The Dasara festival has always showcased the grandeur of the city and this time it’s going all out to make it the best Dasara ever.
The state government for the first time has allocated 10 crore rupees for the festivities. And the tourism department is expecting a record number of over 15 lakh tourists to visit Mysore during these 10 days.
“We are expecting around 3 lac international tourists and nearly 7 lac tourists within the country,” says Vice Chairman, Dasara Tourism Committee, HD Raghavendra.
But this deluge of tourists in the city is posing logistical problems to the city administration. The recent bomb blasts across several parts of the country including the state's capital Bangalore have kept the administration on high alert.
Mysore was in the news last year when six alleged Pakistani terror suspects were arrested. As expected the city police is taking unprecedented security measures to ensure a safe Dasara for everyone
“This time in the back drop of the law and order situation we have made all the arrangements to meet towards any unwanted incident,” says Police Commissioner, S Parashiva Murthy
But will the high security dampen Dasara festivities? Most agree that tight security is must during the Dasara Celebrations in Mysore, especially in view of recent blasts at various places in the country.
4,000 additional police officers, CCTV cameras installed at important locations, one platoon of rapid action force, this Dasara sees Mysore face unprecedented security but its assured that despite all this the city will celebrate the festival in all its splendour.
