Sourabhee Debbarma from Northeast becomes the first girl to win the title of Indian Idol. CNN-IBN talks to her about her victory and future plans. Here is an excerpt of the interview -
CNN-IBN: Do you still need to pinch yourself?
Sourabhee: Of course I have to because really can’t believe it that I am already a winner. I never expected to win and just let things go the way they are. When I first saw the photo I was wondering is this the gal who has won or has she been eliminated. I am really happy.
CNN-IBN: At any point of time did you have a feeling that I might just win with so many people voting for me or were there moments of dejection that I might not win the title?
Sourabhee: When I went for my homecoming, I was surprised to see the overwhelming welcome by the Northeastern people. That was one moment when I thought that I might just win.
CNN-IBN: Let us get down to the fact that you are the first female Indian Idol, so you will probably become the icon of girl power.
Sourabhee: Of course. Now you see when the fifth season will start how many girls will participate.
CNN-IBN: Final question, what are your future projects?
Sourabhee: Actually, I didn’t think about my future yet. I know a lot of work will come for me and you have to be very choosy and careful because poor decisions can really spoil my career so I’ll be alert. This industry is a very risky thing.
