Mumbai: It's not a children's film. At least that's what actor Pankaj Kapur and director Vishal Bharadwaj say about The Blue Umbrella, an adaptation of Ruskin Bond's short story of the same name.
It’s the story of a young girl who has a blue umbrella that her village envies. But when the umbrella goes missing, they realise the futility of material desires.
After winning a national award for his role as Abba Ji in Maqbool, Pankaj Kapur was more than happy to act in yet another Vishal Bharadwaj production.
The director too had a reason good enough to be happy.
"I feel more excited working with kids, because they are so natural, no baggage with kids, the advantage is that you can tell them when to shut up. You can’t do that with the older actors and you can also tell them to do things your way,” Bhardwaj says.
The Blue Umbrella is set for a countrywide release on January 5, 2007.
