Three bank employees attacked in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Five robbers on Thursday looted Rs 61.59 lakh cash after injuring three employees of a bank, police said.

The incident occurred when employees of Progressive Mercentile Cooperative Bank (PMCB) were taking the cash from Ellisbridge branch to Kalupur branch in a bank car.

Police suspect that the loot was pre-planned and robbers have tracked down the routine of the bank employees as the robbery took place at a short distance from Ellisbridge branch.

According to police, the bank employees, including head cashier Parin Shah, were attacked by the five with hockey sticks and sharp objects near the branch.

Shah along with his colleague Rajendra Patel and driver of the car Anand Thakur were injured in the attack.

They have been admitted to a hospital and their condition is said to be stable, they said.
