Bangalore: A tigress was found dead in the Billigiri Ranga Temple tiger reserve in Karnataka by forest staff on Sunday. Unlike in past instances when the claws had been removed from the carcass, every part of the animal's body was intact, ruling out any human interference.
According the Dr Vijay Mohanraj, field director,BRT tiger reserve, the seven- year-old tigress had died of natural cause. "Our beat staff discovered a dead tiger in the Malki beat of the Yellandur range on Sunday evening. We As there were no external injuries we can confidently says it is case of natural death. We have done the post mortem and sent the viscera for further investigation," said Mr Mohanraj.
Incidentally, another tiger had been found dead in the adjoining Kollegal range of the Cauvery wildlife sanctuary earlier this month.
