Durban: Australia forward Tim Cahill has broken down in tears after he was sent off in his team's 4-0 defeat to Germany in Group D at the World Cup.
Cahill was red carded in the 56th minute for a late challenge on Bastian Schweinsteiger at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Schweinsteiger comforted Cahill after Sunday's match and said he did not believe the challenge merited a sending off.

Cahill was the star of Australia's 2006 World Cup campaign. He now misses the team's next match against Ghana.
