New Delhi: If you partied hard on 31st night to welcome the New Year, then there's nothing worse than waking up with a hangover.
Hangovers are just bouts of dehydration. The alcohol that you loved so much at the New Year bash did nothing but deplete water from your system.
Does that sound simple? Then why didn't you think before downing those drinks?
Believe it or not, there are ways with which you can prevent hangovers. First of all don't drink! Well that really isn't an option this season, is it?
- To begin with, eat a large meal before you actually start drinking. Have a glass of water between drinks once you start to drink.
- You can drink orange juice as it is a good cure for hangovers. The sugar in the fruit gives you a boost of energy.
- Avoid fizzy drinks as they actually speed up the alcohol absorption process so you get intoxicated faster.
- Avoid coffee as the caffeine in it dehydrates you just like alcohol.
- Eat bananas as it is a natural enticer that helps cure nausea. Besides that, it is also high on magnesium that can relax the pounding blood vessels causing headache.
- Pop in an aspirin for the headache. However, be careful not to take it before you go to bed as the pill will irritate your stomach lining.
- A hot bath is also very affective. The steam will sweat out the toxins that cause all the problems.
- The next thing to do would be to turn in for the day. A doze after all is a great repair mechanism.
- And the last resort would be to resort to hangover-free pills that are legally available in India at any of your nearby chemist shop. But they too have their drawbacks so check with your doctor before popping them.
