Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari is expecting the Congress to win a majority inspite of all that’s been said and done by all parties concerned.
As counting began at 0800 hrs in Uttarakhand, CNN-IBN’s Sumit Pande caught up with the Chief Minister and asked him about his future plans after the announcement that he wants to move out of the state politics.
Sumit Pande: What are your expectations of the counting which began on Tuesday morning?
N D Tiwari: My expectation is that Congress should win a majority, inspite of all that’s been said and done by all parties concerned.
Sumit Pande: Congress winning the majority, so is N D Tiwari becoming the Chief Minister again? Are you interested in becoming the CM again?
N D Tiwari: It is not my interest, it is a decision always taken by the Central Congress Parliamentary Board.
Sumit Pande: If the Party high command asks you will you continue sir?
N D Tiwari: Well let them first ask me. They would also like to have a CM who works for all the five years.
Sumit Pande: It was always felt that perhaps, N D Tiwari was a reluctant CM in Dehradun, is it true that you are a reluctant CM?
N D Tiwari: No I was never a reluctant CM. I have worked for five years now. So much has been published regarding what we have done in the state.
Sumit Pande: Sir but are you now interested in going to the Centre, In the central politics?
N D Tiwari: Again I say it is not my interest.
Sumit Pande: But sir there is a perception that N D Tiwari wants to move to the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
N D Tiwari: No, not at all. So you think that anybody can become the Rashtrapati of the country. It is a collesium of all the assemblies of the country. And then the honourable Members of the Parliament decide this.
Sumit Pande:One last thing what is the one thing that you couldn't to do in Uttarrakhand in the last five years.
N D Tiwari: Well, sky is the limit. I have done whatever I could do in the last five years. I follow the Bhagwat Gita. I tried my best that way.
