New Delhi: The Park Street rape survivor on Friday criticised Trinamool Congress leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar for her remarks against her. Dastidar had reportedly said that it "was not a rape but a misunderstanding between a lady and her client". "If you're referring to the Park Street rape, see that is a different case altogether. That was not at all a rape case. It was a misunderstanding between the two parties involved, between a lady and her client. This was not a rape," Dastidar had said.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, the rape survivor said that politicians should desist from politicising the issue and help the victims get justice. "We have entrusted our lives with them and voted for them. They should not make such accusations," she said.
In fact, the bizarre statement by Kakoli came while she was reacting to another obscene remark by a CPM leader against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
Kakoli even defended Mamata's handling of the Park Street rape case. When the incident happened in February 2012, Mamata had labelled the rape victim a part of a greater conspiracy against her government.
