Kolkata: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, while talking to the media on Friday, said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has expressed concern of her party over the fuel price hike issue.
"Mamata asked me to bring the issue of price rise to the notice of the Prime Minister," said Soni.
Soni said even the Congress is also concerned over the issue and the party has expressed its view to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"Even the Finance Minister of the country is politically sensitive to the (fuel price rise) issue. We have also in our own way brought the issue to the notice to the Prime Minister," said Soni.
On the differences between the party and other UPA allies over the petrol price hike issue, Soni said, "In an alliance we try and keep the allies happy. We keep all alliance partners in loop of the Government decision. I have not experienced any issue regarding unhappiness between the TMC and the Congress."
Soni, however, said both the party are aware that the price rise was necessary.
"Both the Congress and the TMC know that the oil prices are regulated by international prices. I have assured Mamata that her concerns will be raised with the Prime Minister," said Soni.
