New Delhi: It's been three days since Madras High Court Judge, Justice D Regupathy claimed that a union minister had tried to influence him in an anticipatory bail case, but no one seems willing to take the next step and find out just who the minister is.

While sources have confirmed to CNN-IBN that the minister in question is a cabinet minister from Tamil Nadu, Justice D Regupathy himself is refusing to reveal the name.

In Tamil Nadu meanwhile, the main Opposition party - the AIADMK - is keeping quiet, but only because party supremo J Jayalalithaa is holidaying in the Nilgiri Hills.

However, smaller parties are demanding a thorough probe.

"In the interest of fairplay he should make it public and the honourable Prime Minister should also not hesitate to take action," said CPI sectretary, D Pandian.

Union Law minister M Veerappa Moily is also playing safe, He has made it clear that the Centre can only ascertain facts and cannot act unless Justice Regupathy names the minister.

"We are enquiring the matter, and if it come to our notice then the question of us making any statement comes into the picture," said Moily.

The DMK, meanwhile, is trying to down play the issue, insisting that if the judge does reveal the name of the DMK minister, his party will act upon it at once.

"I can't take any action without knowing any details," Tamil Nadu Law Minister, Durai Murugan.

While the law does not force a judge to reveal the name of the minister who allegedly influenced him, there is a growing feeling within the judicial community that the matter will not be taken to its logical conclusion unless the name becomes public.

The ball is now in Justice Regupathy's court.
