Dindigul: Dalit leader Pasupathi Pandian was hacked to death by a gang in front of his residence at Nandavanapatti on the outskirts of this town tonight, police said.

Pandian, founder of Devendra Kula Velalar Kootamaippu (Federation) was sitting alone outside his house in an isolated locality when he was attacked and killed, they said.

Police said they suspected the gang monitored the Dalit leader's movements before attacking him. Pandian's body was later brought to Dindigul Government hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile tension spread as news of the Dalit leader's death spread.
