Tamil Nadu: Gay teacher rapes student, arrested

Tirunelveli: A school teacher was arrested in Tirunelveli on Thursday on charges of having unnatural sex with a male student.

Police said that Peter Gnanaselvam (44) was the class teacher of a section of the seventh standard of an aided school in Palayamkottai.

He was also running a tuition centre at his house. Many children, including a seventh standard student of the aided school, were attending classes at the tuition centre.

Peter allegedly forced himself on a Class VII boy and had unnatural sex with him on Wednesday.

Later, he threatened the student that he would fail him in the examination if he informed the matter to anyone.

The student, however, told his mother about Peter's act. She lodged a complaint with the Palayamkottai police on Thursday.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against him and arrested him.
