The teacher had reportedly been practicing acupuncture on the students for quite some time but and the parents of the students had no idea about it.
When parents came of know of it they protested outside the school alleging that the teacher practiced acupuncture on their daughters without taking their consent. They even alleged that the teacher also injected their wards with steroids and drugs.
It was only when the girl students began to faint due to the treatment that parents came to know of the teacher's illegal practice.
The parents also beat up the concerned teacher and destroyed school property.
Police had to resort to lathicharge to control the situation. Police also arrested the teacher's wife and the principal of the school.
But it is not the first time a teacher has been arrested in Tamil Nadu for violating child rights. Last month, police arrested an elementary school teacher in Villipuram who transformed children into stunt-masters for a school function and made them endure pain of a motorcycle run over their hands.
