New Delhi: India's first eco-friendly five star hotel, the famous Uppal's Orchid, is strategically located near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
If you were to believe records of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), a major portion of this hotel has been demolished.
But interestingly on ground, not a single brick has been removed. A fact that came to light after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the hotel.
"The MCD should have taken cognizance of the building by laws. MCD filed a false report," says Joint Director of CBI, Rajneekanth Mishra.
But the Uppal Orchid management denies the claim. They say the hotel was built as per the laws and all regulatory fees have been paid.
"Uppal Orchid was constructed in 2001-2002 after the land use change for which the required fees was paid. Thereafter, the plans were sanctioned by the concerned authority and all other permission to run the hotel was obtained," said the Chief Executive Officer of Uppal Orchid, Ramnik Bawa.
The CBI will hand over its report to the Delhi high court on Monday. The court will then decide on the further course of action.
