Ranchi: Top Naxal leader Rajdev Yadav surrendered in Jharkhand on Wednesday, giving a boost to anti-Naxal operations in the state.

Two Naxal leaders have surrendered in the past two weeks after the state government announced a scheme to breakdown the Naxals network. The scheme comprises of not just Rs 1 lakh to surrendered rebels but also assurance by the police that their families would be taken care of.

"I worked in the party for a long time and then I thought that I would not get any success. If I surrender I will at least get security otherwise one cannot stay, as there are so many factions and parties. If one doesn't agree with the party one can't live. There is so much police and administration in the civil society," said surrendered sub-zonal Naxal commander Rajeev Yadav.

The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced a surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy for the Naxals with immediate effect.
