New Delhi: When veterans of renowned rock bands split and bond together in a Bandish the music emanating has to be simply rocking and exciting.
"Creative, innovative and full of energy", is how sarod maestros Ayaan Khan and Amaan Khan described Kaise Kahoon, the debut album of the new rock band, Bandish, released by the duo in the city on Tuesday night.
The band is founded by Chris Powell, the former drummer for the band Euphoria and one of India's best known percussionists.
Abhishek Nailwal, who has a commendable presence in the jingle and ad world, is the vocalist.
Desmond Powell, a guitarist with a flair and founder of Delhi-based rock band Nirvana and Aadil Manuel, former Silk Route member is now the guitarist of Bandish.
"Chris is a very good friend. We worked together in Jaani Khusro. But when he gave me this album two weeks ago I was a bit apprehensive, not knowing what to expect from an album by a rock band. However, after hearing it, I was amazed at the kind of work done by Bandish," Amaan said.
He added he was especially impressed with the excellent use of traditional Indian instruments, the wonderful lyrics and rhythm, all of which made Kaise Kahoon a special album.
Endorsing his brother's opinion, Ayaan said,
Listening to the songs of the album makes me feel that it is a star band, which is born.
The album has been produced, composed and arranged by Chris Powell, who founded the band last year comprising a group of renowned and seasoned musicians hailing from different musical backgrounds and influences.
"Kaise Kahoon is an honest expression in perfecting the ability to speak through the power of music. It is a combination of melody, lyrics and rhythm that creates a new dimension of Pop-Rock," Chris said.
The album boasts of use of a wide range of ethnic Indian instruments and other ethnic Indian percussions combined with powerful sounds of electric guitars, drums and keyboards.
The evening also saw the screening of the video of Goonj, one of the songs in the album, which was followed by a live performance on stage by the band.
The launch event of the album, brought out by Times Music, coincided with its release across the country.
