MANGALORE: Navya R Shetty, student of S V S English Medium school in Bantwal, topped the SSLC examinations when the results were made public on Thursday. Scoring 623 out of 625 marks, Navya R had missed scoring one mark each in the languages — English and Hindi.
She is daughter of Rathnakar Shetty, assistant professor in commerce department of Malleshwaram Government College, Bangalore, and Prabha, a homemaker.
“She had worked hard and followed the suggestion of her seniors,” her father informed Express over phone from Bangalore.
Navya who is yet to decide on her future said she was expecting 600 marks.
She said she was keen on follow her father’s profession if everything went in the right way.
Navya hails from Hebri in Udupi district and resides at Bantwal.
Pallavi Rao emerged as the second topper in state with 621 marks.
She recollects studying for four hours every day and six hours during the exams.
She expressed gratitude to the support given by her parents Manjunath Rao and home maker Bhuvaneshwari and teachers for motivating her to be a topper.
SSLC Kannada Medium Topper
Prajwal S of Alva’s Kannada Medium High School scored 613 marks, emerging topper in the Kannada Medium in the state.
Prajwal hails from a poor family from Andinje in Belthangady.
