New Delhi: A first-half Francesco Totti hat-trick proved more than enough for AS Roma to see off Bari, who still pulled one back with a Marco Andreolli own goal late in the second period, but it was too little, too late.

A lively start from the hosts saw them take the lead just seven minutes into the game, when Vucinic was brought down in the Bari box by goalkeeper Gillet, and Francesco Totti made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-0.

Roma did not take their foot back off the gas and doubled their lead in the 14th minute, once again throughTotti, who sent a powerful, yet well-placed free-kick past Gillet.

Bari attempted to respond and could have pulled one back just moments later, but Langella's acrobatic volley from just outside Roma's six-yard box was parried away by Julio Sergio.

But that solitary effort did not seem to bother Roma that much as the hosts found a third on 28 minutes, after the ball fell at the feet of Totti on the right side of the box, and the Lupi captain powered the ball into the far top corner with a left-footed drive.

The first half did not come to an end before another opportunity for Bari, in the 39th minute, but Barreto could not do better than send it straight at Julio Sergio when clear on goal.

Bari started out the better in the second half, and could have scored in the 58th minute, when Almiron found himself with plenty of room and went for glory from distance, only to strike the crossbar.

The visitors were now piling the pressure on Roma and their efforts paid off as they made it 3-1 thanks to a Marco Andreolli own goal.

But that was as far as Bari could go, as the score-line remained untouched for the remainder of the match. Roma captain Totti will have to be happy with such a return after netting three goals.
