New Delhi: Police on Saturday arrested a tourist guide for allegedly attempting to rape a 14-year-old British girl at a resort in Delhi, an official said.
Muralidarhan, 27, was arrested from Kapeshera area, near the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Police said he "undressed the girl" on Friday night in Kapeshera's Ashoka Country Resort but she raised an alarm and he was caught by the people in the resort.
The people then handed him over to police.
According to police, a group of 29 British tourists, including the girl, came to visit India last week and since then Muralidarhan was with them as their tour guide.
"The victim recorded her statement before a magistrate and has left for Britain along with the group," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest Delhi) K Jagdeeshan.
A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 376, 511 (attempt to rape) has been registered against Muralidarhan at the Kapeshera police station.
