In a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy,he urged that those who lost their dear ones and those suffering from severe burns should be provided all support from the part of the State Government.
“It is the worst tanker lorry mishap in Kerala. Already 19 people lost their lives and 41 people are admitted in various hospitals with burns. Various houses and commercial establishments had also been destroyed. In this backdrop, the State Government should come forward to offer jobs to the kin of the deceased. Also adequate compensation should be given to the relatives of the victims,” he said in the letter.
He also demanded that the state government should appoint an experienced agency such as the PWD to evaluate the overall loss caused by the tanker lorry blast. “Instead of Nirmithi Kendra, which is presently evaluating the loss, an experienced agency like the PWD should be appointed to estimate the loss incurred by the commercial establishments and houses in Chalai,” he urged in the letter.
