India demands Pak act on terror issue

New Delhi: India has sent a clear message to Pakistan that it must act now on the terror issue. India's stern stand comes after New Delhi handed over to Pakistan a dossier which has evidence that links Pakistan to the Mumbai terror attacks.

New Delhi is also preparing to share this proof with the global community. The diplomatic offensive is clear. India nearly demands extradition of perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks so that they can be brought to book in this country.

India's Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon has said the blasts were planned in Pakistan and it is hard to distinguish between state and non-state actors.

India has said Pakistan should do its own investigation and is obliged to hand over suspects, irrespective of whether there was an extradition treaty or not.

The material handed over to Pakistan includes details of the terrorists' communication with people in Pakistan during the attack, GPS co-ordinates, names of terrorists and weapons recovered.

Menon added that India was in touch with friendly countries and has got unprecedented international support.
