Mumbai: Bollywood's most popular musical trio have all the reason to be happy.
After their music rocked the charts and the award functions last year, Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are back with the film score and soundtrack of Karan Johar's Kabhi alvida Na Kehna.
And that's not it. Don, Marigold and Salaam-e-Ishq are films in the pipeline for which they have composed the music.
Critics and reviews are not being very kind to their music, but the trio is happy and all smiles.
Here’s what they had to say about the music and its critics:
"I heard one review saying the album is the same. But it’s really not. The similarity in Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Alvida Na Khena is that there is piano in both the films. Then I think that John Lenon, all of Elton John’s songs should be like Kal Ho Na Ho, because they all use piano?" Ehsaan Noorani says.
"I think people are always out to criticise Karan Johar’s music," he adds.
"You cannot listen to it once and figure out what it is," Loy says.
"As a director, he wants the music to be in a certain way for it to work in the capacity of his film. He will stop at nothing to get that out so that's the reason we are all here," Loy adds.
"The song that took us a lot of time to compose was Where is the party tonight," Shankar says.
"We started planning our own album recently. About three years back! But that's because we have been tied up doing Bollywood. We will release it this year for sure," he adds.
