Tripura relections: CPI(M) takes out victory procession in Assam

Guwahati: Jubilant over the ruling Left Fronts's victory in Tripura for the fifth straight term, the CPI(M) in Assam took out a victory procession through the main thoroughfares of Guwahati on Thursday.

The processionists led by CPI(M) state unit leader Hamen Das and other party office bearers with banners and slogans congratulated the people of Tripura for voting the Left Front back to power to win two-thirds majority in 60-member Assembly.

CPI(M) has garnered 49 of the 60 seats, while the CPI has a lone victory and the Congress won in ten constituencies. Counting of votes for the assembly elections held on February 14 was taken up on Thursday.
