New Delhi: The storm over UPA Cabinet formation seems to have subsided for now but 13 ministers sworn in on Saturday are still to be allocated portfolios.
Also, a cloud still hangs over the rest of Manmohan Singh's Cabinet being sworn-in on Tuesday, with sources saying it may be postponed by a day.
But what is clear as of now is that the DMK will be a part of the Union Cabinet. After a weekend of high political drama, the sulking politicians of UPA's pre-poll ally party are finally getting their slice of the Government pie.
Party chief M Karunanidhi's eldest son M K Azhagiri is set to be a minister at the Centre in the second round of oath-taking scheduled for Tuesday.
On Tuesday, as many as 40 Ministers of State and approximately 10 Cabinet ministers will be sworn in.
CNN-IBN has access to some of the big names slated to become ministers.
Salman Khursheed, Congress’ minority face will now be heading the Minority Affairs ministry . MK Azhagiri will get Chemcial and Fertilisers Ministry, A Raja, a minister in the previous UPA government, will be getting Information technology
Dayanidhi Maran, Karunanidhi's grand nephew and another one of former UPA ministers, will get Textiles.
National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah, who flew off to South Africa to watch the IPL final to brush off his dissappointment at not being considered in the first list, will get either the Tourism and Culture portfolio or the Sports Ministry.
Veerapa Moily, a known Gandhi loyalist could be stepping into the shoes of Hansraj Bhardwaj as the new Law Minister.
In addition, a formal announcement of portfolios of those who have taken oath in the first round is also in the offing.
CP Joshi, the Rajasthan Congress President, will be the new Rural Development Minister, Kamal Nath will get Commerce and Company Affairs, Kapil Sibbal is likely to get either HRD or Commerce portfolios while Ambika Soni, the tourism minister in the previous government, could now be the new Health Minister.
Coalition pressures apart, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sent out a loud and clear message: merit of individuals counts more than anything else.
