New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Abdul Karim alias Tunda appeared cautious and was extremely manipulative during his psychometric test, sources have told to CNN-IBN. According to doctors Tunda is an ace at manipulating his responses and is using his old age to dodge the probe, they add.
Tunda even refused to take the lie detector test, misled his interrogators and provided wrong information to them. Sources said that it appeared as if he was prepared mentally on how much information he would reveal.
Meanwhile another suspected LeT operative Mohammad Alauddin has been arrested in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal. Alauddin is believed to have worked with Tunda.
Meanwhile, Tunda confessed to links with Amir Reza Khan, the founder and ideologue behind Indian Mujahideen, Delhi Police sources said on Wednesday. Tunda also confessed to meeting underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in 2002, just before the latter went underground.
Tunda had helped Dawood push fake Indian currency notes from Pakistan through his network. The 70-year-old LeT bomb expert also claimed that Dawood has close links with the Pakistani intelligence agency, the ISI.
Tunda claimed that Dawood's aide Iqbal Kana is close to a Brigadier of the ISI. He told interrogators that Kana had used Tunda's residence as a focal point for pushing fake notes, which were printed in Islamabad and Peshawar.
Tunda had also claimed that Dawood had tried to use him for his extortion racket based in Lahore. He had also reportedly told his interrogators on Sunday that he met Dawood in Karachi several times. Tunda also reportedly told the interrogators that Dawood stays in a safe house in Karachi and is guarded by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI.
Delhi Police sources have claimed Tunda to be a prized catch as he was linked to terror masterminds Hafiz Saeed, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and Dawood.
Tunda is wanted in more than 40 bombings across North India. The Delhi Police said on Saturday that Tunda was carrying a Pakistani passport at the time of arrest near the Indo-Nepal border.
Police said Tunda is known as the bomb expert in the LeT circle and played a major role in 1993 Bombay serial blasts, Delhi bomb blasts of 1997-98 and serial bombings in Uttar Pradesh and also at Panipat, Sonepat, Ludhiana, Hyderabad etc.
Police said Tunda had trained indoctrinated youngsters in preparing bombs with locally available materials like urea, nitric acid, potassium chloride, nitrobenzene and sugar, and planting them at crowded places to cause maximum casualties.
