A lot was expected of Pritam, the music director/producer of the original Dhoom soundtrack.
The soundtrack and songs of that film were, needless to say the toast of that year, and ever since Dhoom 2 was announced, the anxious public has waited for the new album.
It's out now and the public is anxious no more. Just disappointed.
Track 1, Crazy Kiya Re, voiced by Sunidhi Chauhan is typical dance floor fodder with a rap inter-cuts.
Everyone on the album sounds confused, especially Alisha Chinai on Touch Me - she changes her pitch at every paragraph, leaving co-singer K K sounding a little puzzled.
The movie is going to be very slick and the music will call for the same treatment, and sure enough, the soundtrack is just that.
Problem is, I haven't heard a single song that will become an anthem like Dhoom Macha Le but will just enter the dance floor/hit radio cycle and fade out when the next big thing comes along.

It’s been 20 years since Janet released her breakthrough album Control, and in her own words, she's covered a lot in 20 years, and uncovered a lot.
She might have broken new ground as far as public exposure is concerned, but her new album, 20 Y O, for some reason is trying very hard to recreate the sounds of the past.
Produced by boyfriend Jermaine Dupree, this album is top heavy with 80s style synth sounds, plenty of melotron hand clapping and in the case of a track called This body, heavy breathing.
She even does a duet with Nelly, titled Call On Me - but this song ends us like a blatant redux of Dilemma, Kelly Rowlands duet with the Band-aided rapper.
Janet certainly has the talent and the abs to be a pop-star but in a billboard top 20 list that's filled to the brim with young bloods like Rhianna and Kelly Clarkson, it becomes so apparent that Janet is trying too hard to remain relevant. Sit this one out.
