New Delhi: TV18 has bagged five trophies at the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Awards for excellence in Journalism, with three of them for CNN-IBN. It was a proud evening for Network18 at the fifth Ramnath Goenka awards for excellence in journalism, an award that recognizes standout performances in print and television journalism.

In the true spirit of 'whatever it takes' was CNN-IBN's Preeti Singh who went deep inside the flood affected Karnool district to bring out the story of how people in Andhra Pradesh were surviving the nature's fury and that won her the Best On the Spot Reporter of the Year Award.

"The most difficult part was reaching the spot with the highways not working," Preeti said.

Winning the award for the second time for reporting from the Northeast was Arijit Sen for relentlessly bringing out the unheard stories from the states known as the seven sisters.

"I hope people are a bit more sensitive towards the Northeast," Arijit said.

Anubha Bhonsle's 'Paisa Power Politics' won her the highly coveted Best Political Reporter Award.

It was a proud moment for sister channel IBN lokmat with Aarti Kulkarni winning the Best Environment Reporter.

The evening's most coveted award 'Journalist of the Year Broadcast' went to the man who tells India how to do business every morning, the Managing Editor of CNBC TV18 Udayan Mukherjee. The final award of the night, Best Print Journalist of the year went to the man who first exposed the 2G scam, J Gopikrishnan, of 'The Pioneer' and with that ended an evening of celebration of media excellence.
