Mumbai: The TVS Motor, India’s third largest two-wheeler maker, has confirmed the launch of its new 125CC motorcycle, Flame, next month with a new engine developed in Austria.
The production of the original version of the motorcycle had been caught in a litigation after Bajaj Motors sued them for patent infringement.
Flame will have a new engine which was developed, patented and licenced by AVL Austria. Flame features a three-valve dual induction system and single-spark plug ignition.
In a major judgement, the Madras High Court on Saturday issued an order to the TVS Motor Company, asking it to check the booking, selling and manufacturing of those two-wheelers in which the company had used the 'two-spark plugs with screw fitted sleeve and three valves' technology with the quick effect.
Bajaj Auto Limited had earlier claimed that the technology was under the patent of BAL. Last month, TVS Motor Company had rolled out the TVS Flame across six cities and the company claims that it sold 500 units.
Meanwhile, TVS has also said that they will continue the legal battle and a fresh appeal has already been filed against the Madras HC order.
