New Delhi: Several former and Australian cricket players took to Twitter on Saturday to laud India opener Shikhar Dhawan for becoming the fastest Test centurion on debut. Dhawan marked his Test debut by speeding to three figures in just 85 balls, thus helping India reply strongly to Australia's first innings of 408 in Mohali.
Dhawan reached his first 50 in 50 balls and needed another 35 to reach his hundred. The landmark came up with a scampered single after Dhawan tapped the ball into the off side; he dived into the nonstriker's crease and came up beaming. His superb effort also helped record India's first double-century opening stand in Tests against Australia.
