Srinagar: In Srinagar two people were injured in a grenade on Saturday near the high security Civil Secretariat.

The injured include a woman and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan on guard duty who have been taken to hospital for treatment. No group has taken responsibility so far.

As the secretariat was closed for the weekend, there were not many people minimising injuries.

The area has offices of the Chief Minister, the state's Cabinet ministers and top Jammu and Kashmir bureaucrats.

CRPF DIG MP Mathaniel said, "The incident took place about 100 yards from the Secretariat. We usually check people who are entering from the front gate. The grenade was thrown across the left wall, which is an abandoned area. We will now check it out and take action."

On Friday, a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) convoy was ambushed in Kishtwar and five personnel killed while a grenade attack in Baramulla injured six.

In the Kishtwar ambush BRO Lieutenant Colonel Ajay Kumar Verma, GREF engineer SK Singh, two Army jawans and their driver were killed when they were going to inspect construction work on the Chattroo-Simthan road.
