Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested two persons-- Jayendra Shah and his associate Dilip Motwani-- on charges of extortion from Reliance Industries for withdrawing affidavits objecting to its merger with group company Reliance Petroleum.
Both Shah and Motwani, who were arrested on Wednesday and were produced in a local court and were remanded to police custody for two days, police said.
The two had allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh for withdrawing their affidavits filed in Mumbai High Court in connection with the case for the approval of the merger of two companies.
