Two robberies in Delhi leave one dead

New Delhi: Two cases of robberies have shocked the national capital.

At 1000 hrs (IST) in north-east part of Delhi, three armed men on a bike shot dead an accounts manager of a petrol pump.

The victim, Balwant was on his way to deposit the cash when the attackers tried to snatch the bag.

He resisted and paid with his life. The attackers escaped with the cash.

The victim’s colleague, Sharat Shekhar said, “The police is to be blamed, they were standing there with Lathis while the assailants fired a pistol."

An hour later, another daring attempt was made in Delhi. This time around, the venue was an upmarket area of South Delhi. At 1130 hrs IST, four assailants on two bikes attacked two employees of another petrol pump right outside this bank.

The duo was on their way to deposit 10 lakh rupees. As the attackers fired they managed to deliver the bag of cash at the door of the bank but one of them sustained minor injuries while the assailants shot the other in the shoulder. The police blamed the bank for poor response.

DCP, South Delhi, HGS Dhaliwal said, "The guard of the bank, despite being armed did nothing to prevent this incident. The bank has also not installed a CCTV camera at the entrance inspite of repeated reminders."

Two daylight attempted robberies spaced in an hour's time of each other, involving the same method have foxed the police.

Sources say that police is questioning the employees of both petrol pumps. It now emerges that the assailants received a tip off that employees from both these banks were going to drop off money at the bank.
