UK queues up to grab T-mobile G1

New Delhi: Deutsche Telekom AG's (DT) mobile arm T-Mobile launched the new G1 mobile phone in the UK market on Thursday.

The G1, the first phone built using the Adroid operating platform, went on sale in its central London flagship store.

Agencies report queues began at 5:00 am at T-Mobile's Oxford Street store which opened early.

The T-Mobile offers comes with full touch screen, a QWERTY keyboard for easy online communication and high speed internet with popular Google services built in.

The T-Mobile G1 also offers access to innovative application downloads from the new Android Market, 50 of which are available now to download for free.

It also plays to the increasing demand for internet on the move. While specific sales expectations weren't available, a T-Mobile spokeswoman said that pre-orders for the handset sold out almost immediately.

Sources say that over 1.5 million pre-orders have already been taken.
