UK: Teen's stomach removed after drinking nitrogen cocktail

London: A British teenager had her stomach removed to save her life after she drank a cocktail made with liquid nitrogen, which creates a smokey effect. Gaby Scanlon was celebrating her 18th birthday at a bar in Lancaster, the Daily Mail reported on Monday.

After taking the cocktail, she developed severe stomach pain and was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a perforated stomach. Doctors performed emergency surgery to remove her stomach. Scanlon, from Heysham, Lancashire, is in a serious but stable condition, police said.

Last month, the bar named Oscar's posted a picture of the drink called Pornstar Martini on its Facebook page. The drink was sold for 8.95 pounds with a shot of champagne. Police said it has banned sales of nitrogen cocktails after last Thursday's incident.
