New Delhi: London Police on Thursday charged fourth suspect in the failed UK terror plot. Jordanian doctor Mohammed Asha has been booked for conspiracy to cause explosions.
Twenty-six-year-old Asha, who was arrested with his wife from the M6 motorway in Cheshire immediately after the failed bombings, has been asked to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
This is the fourth indictment in the case. Earlier, three men of Indian origin – Sabeel Ahmad and Kafeel Ahmad in Britain and Mohammad Haneef in Australia – have already been charged over the failed attacks.
Also, three others have been released and another is critically ill with burns in hospital.
Among the first to be charged was Iraqi doctor Bilal Abdullah (July 6) who charged with conspiracy to cause explosions.
Twenty-six-year-old Sabeel was charged on July 14 with not disclosing information that could have helped police arrest a suspected terrorist.
On July 14 itself, Australian police charged Sabeel’s cousin Dr Mohammed Haneef with providing "reckless support" to a terrorist organisation. Haneef is currently under immigration detention in Australia.
Sabeel is the brother of Kafeel Ahmed who was detained at Glasgow airport after the burning jeep was driven into a terminal building. Kafeel suffered 90 per cent burns and remains in hospital under armed guard.
Asha, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, is accused of conspiring with Bilal, Kafeel and "others unknown", reports quoted Scotland Yard as saying.
He remains in custody at Paddington Green police station.
