New Delhi: As the violence continues unabated in Assam, the Indian Army, paramilitary forces and the state police are preparing for a joint offensive against the ULFA.
The forces plan to attack ULFA hideouts in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh in upper Assam.
On Tuesday, the Centre sent 10 more companies of paramilitary forces comprising 1,000 personnel to Assam to this end - this is in addition to the 20 companies already sent to the state to fight the ULFA and protect Hindi-speaking people, particularly migrant workers from North India.
On Tuesday another migrant labourer was attacked and killed in Dibrugarh taking the toll in attacks by the ULFA on non-Assamese people up to 70. Two people were also injured in a bomb blast near a Dispur police station.
Hindi-speaking migrants continued to leave the state even as 8,000 migrant labourers were moved into secure camps in upper Assam.
The Government has also announced additional compensation to the families of victims.
