Mumbai: J P Dutta's set for the release of Umrao Jaan but there's something bothering him - the word 'remake'.
"Let's get educated. A film to film is a remake but book to film is not," he clarifies.
J P Dutta's one angry man. Days before the release of his magnum opus Umrao Jaan, he and his leading lady, Aishwarya Rai, are fending off the bouquets and brickbats with the inevitable comparisons to the 1981 classic.
“That's your prerogative. The media has decided it will ask these questions and it will continue to do so even after the film is released,” says Aishwarya.
And if you thought that was petulant, here are J P Dutta's final words on his much-talked about film.
“You must understand that the conceptualisationa and visualisation of this Umrao Jaan is fully J P Dutta's,” he emphasizes.
That might be a case of nerves before the box office but till then, expect more fireworks from the director best known for his war movies.
